The Hawaiian Islands are home to 750 miles of stunning coastline — putting the island state behind Alaska, Florida, and California when it comes to coastline length. And while among that coastline you will find countless rock formations and sea cliffs, the beaches are what truly matters. On Oahu alone, there are more than 125 different beaches, but this picturesque cove on the island’s north shore is easily one of our favorites.
Nestled along Oahu’s north shore neighboring the famous Turtle Bay Resort is Kuilima Cove, a stunning slice of paradise that’s beautifully off the beaten path.

Also known as Bayview Beach, this sheltered and serene crescent-shaped cove features fine, white sand, crystalline turquoise waters, and palm trees swaying in the breeze.

Tucked away in a protected cove between two limestone points, Kuilima Point or Kalaeokaunu (which translates to “the point of the altar”) to the west and Kahuku Point or Kalaeokamanu (“the point of the birds” in Hawaiian), Kuilima is dreamy, to say the least.

On the bay’s right-hand side, you will discover an outer reef that not only calms the waves of the Pacific Ocean but facilitates great snorkeling in the summer and moderate surf in the winter.

Perfect for novice snorkelers to practice their skills in the calm summer months, you will find tropical fish, a little coral, the occasional sea turtle — and some stunning views, of course!

Resort guests frequent the beach, but it is also open to the public. You can rent bodyboards, snorkel sets, and beach gear on-site, and even sip a mai tai from the hotel’s beachside bar and grill. This is the perfect place for those on vacation — no matter where you’re staying.
