Whether you want to just stop by and snuggle the kitties, or find one with a personality that will be a purrfect fit for your family you’ll definitely want to pay this place a visit.
You’ll find Lanai Cat Sanctuary on the island of Lanai. It’s southwest of Lanai City, which has a population of around 3,000 residents.

This pretty oasis is bustling with all kinds of friendly felines! Almost all of these kitties were born in the wild. After living here awhile, about 40% of them are trusting enough of humans to be adopted into families.

The ones who aren’t ready to hang with humans live happily amongst their cat friends. The sanctuary provides regular veterinary care to all of the cats, and has a staff of dedicated, experienced cat-lovers.

If you’re heading home to the mainland, the sanctuary’s manager Joe will help you figure out transport to get your new friend home. There’s no fee to adopt a cat here, but the sanctuary does suggest a donation, and you’ll be responsible for the transportation costs of the cat.
Lanai Cat Sanctuary is open 365 days of the year, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you can’t visit in person, you can still help the sanctuary out with a monetary donation! Consider contributing to this wonderful 501c3 nonprofit if you’re able.
