There aren’t many candy shops brimming with as much history as sweets. However, that’s exactly what you’ll find at Uncle Tom’s Candy Shop. Not only is the sweet shop located in an old schoolhouse, but it’s filled with memorabilia, artifacts, and lots of candy, of course. Take a look:

A small-town gem, Uncle Tom’s Candy Shop is a unique candy store that’s located off-the-beaten-path in Ellison Bay.

It may look like a schoolhouse from the outside and that’s because it was. The building that now houses the candy shop served as Newport School from 1911 until the 1950s.

The building was transformed into Uncle Tom’s Candy Store back in 1960 and has been in business ever since — despite ownership changing a couple of times.

A treat for all ages, the shop is stocked with “good, old-fashioned candy,” including homemade fudge, peanut brittle, and chocolate bark.

An assortment of pancake mixes is also part of the merch.

Not sure what to buy? Don’t worry; there are plenty of samples. Or, you can just go with the best-seller, which is the peanut brittle.

…and with new flavors like Milk Chocolate Caramel Cashew and Sea Salt Bark constantly being added to the mix, it’s no surprise customers love it.

But remember, it’s not just sweets the store is stocked with.

In addition to items from the building’s years as a schoolhouse, Uncle Tom’s is brimming with a variety of memorabilia, vintage photos, and 20th-century artifacts.
