When you drive down any street in Vermont, it’s not uncommon to see colorful lights on display during the holidays. However, luminaries are pretty rare and not many towns still light them. However, in the town of Woodstock, lighting hundreds of luminaries is just one of the traditions during their unique Wassail Weekend.

Every December, the town of Woodstock celebrates Wassail Weekend.

Woodstock Chamber of Commerce This year, Wassail Weekend takes place December 13th-15th. It will be their 35th year, so expect big things!

One of the highlights of the weekend is their incredible parade.

Woodstock/website Locals and out-of-town visitors line the streets for the parade. Horses and carriages and people dressed in old fashioned attire march down the streets brimming with holiday cheer.

After the parade, people congregate in the park to watch the burning of the yule log.

And once they’re all lit, it’s truly a magical sight to see.

The moment you step inside, you’ll be transported to the 19th century.

Make your own historic ornament or stick around by the kitchen to have sweet treats baked before your eyes on the wood-fire stove. Tickets are $4-$16 depending on age, and are available at the door.
