Tennessee is full of beautiful rivers, valleys, dramatic gorges, and craggy peaks, but it’s the waterfalls that tend to carry the most fantastical element. They’re the mystics of the natural world. Gorgeous, gushing and dangerous, waterfalls hold a certain bit of magic to the casual hiker. Grotto Falls on the Trillium Gap Trail in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains is a great spot to visit if you’d rather not just look at the beauty of the waterfall, but truly experience it. Thomas Hurley - All Trails Be careful around the waterfall, folks! The rocks are slippery, and though the area is beautiful it can be treacherous. The trail is not friendly to pets, and its recommended that hikers don’t hike the trail in sandals.
