With almost 80 percent of the state blanketed by natural forests, it’s no wonder why West Virginia is a top destination for leaf peepers all across the country. From late September until late October, the Mountain State transforms into a beautiful sea of ambers, yellows, reds, and oranges that are truly breathtaking. Spruce Knob, the highest peak in West Virginia, is a popular spot for many looking to catch a glimpse at nature’s transformation, but there’s a beautiful lake tucked away in the Monongahela National Forest that’s perfect for doing some leaf-peeping.
