Utah’s fall foliage season can be brief some years, and you never know when a huge blanket of snow will hit the mountains, making every bright, colorful leaf fall to the ground. It’s important to get out there and bask in the vibrant beauty of the autumn leaves while they last, and Millcreek Canyon is just absolutely stunning this year. Check it out!

Millcreek Canyon is one of our favorite spots for recreation in Utah. You can be surrounded by natural beauty within minutes of the Salt Lake Valley, and wow, is it gorgeous up there!

…and in some spots, it tumbles down in little waterfalls, which is all the more picturesque.

The canyon also features several larger waterfalls, if you’re looking for something even more grand.

Leaf peepers know that aspens are the golden boys of the canyons, lending their rich, golden colors to the landscape. They also make that great fluttering noise when there’s a slight breeze, which gave them the nickname, “quaking aspens.”

Maples do their job to lend the deep orange and red colors into the mix, and you’ll also find many other species of trees like cottonwoods and oaks doing their part to add to the autumn splendor, too.

Bring a picnic lunch with you on this trip! And, of course, it goes without saying that you’ll want to bring along your camera, or make sure that your phone is charged, so you can capture the glory of autumn for yourself.
