Imagine being able to see ancient art at your local park…literally being able to stand in front of drawings made by humans who lived here thousands of years before you were born! You can do exactly that at this little park in St. George. Take a look at Bloomington Petroglyph Park:
The next time you’re in St. George, make a quick stop at the Bloomington Petroglyph park. You’ll find it at 1460 W. Navajo Dr., St. George, UT 84790.

This park is tiny - just a half acre lot right in a neighborhood in Bloomington (which is in the southwest portion of St. George). There’s a little walking trail that takes you past a couple of huge boulders where you’ll see the petroglyphs.

There isn’t much information on these petroglyphs available at the park, so it’s hard to say exactly how old these drawing are. Other petroglyphs in Utah - those at Newspaper Rock or Nine-Mile Canyon, for instance - are known to be around 2,000 years old.

You can walk right up to these panels to see the drawings up close.

Most of the art is easily identifiable as people or animals, and you might even be able to make up some stories that could be depicted here.

Sadly, you’ll also see much more recent etchings on these boulders - people’s initials and obvious vandalism.

If you visit, please don’t climb on the boulders or touch the petroglyphs. Be respectful of this place and the ancient culture this artwork represents, and make sure that you leave it in the same condition you found it so that others who visit after you may also enjoy it.

The park is open from sunrise to 10 p.m..
