We love Italian food, and it seems like we just can’t get enough pasta. Utah has plenty of great Italian restaurants, and there’s one in Salt Lake City that makes a tableside spaghetti carbonara that’s absolutely incredible. For a delicious pasta dish made while you watch, visit Antica Sicilia.
Antica Sicilia is located in Millcreek at 2020 E. 3300 S.. It’s part of the Sicilia Mia restaurant group, which is well-known for its authentic Italian cuisine and excellent service.
The dining room of this little gem is warm and cozy, and filled with the aromas of garlic and basil. For the best service on a weekend, make a reservation in advance - this place fills up fast!

The handmade pasta is made from family recipes straight from Sicily. The family came to the U.S. in 2013, and opened their first restaurant in 2015.

Everything on the menu is absolutely divine, but the spaghetti carbonara is much more than just a delicious pasta dish. It’s a dining experience.

When you order the carbonara, they’ll bring a huge wheel of Grana Padano cheese on a cart right up to your table. Grana Padano is similar to Parmigiano Reggiano, and comes from northern Italy.

They set the wheel of cheese on fire, then pour the partially-prepared pasta right into the cheese.

The pasta is rolled around and around in the flaming wheel of cheese while the Grana Padano cheese melts right into it. In case that’s not enough cheese, they throw a bit of Parmigiano Reggiano into the mix, too.

When the dish is sufficiently infused with fresh, melted cheeses, it’s plated and handed over so you can dig in.
Antica Sicilia/Facebook The spaghetti carbonara consists of slow-roasted pancetta, an egg cream sauce, and plenty of fresh melted Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. It’s a simple dish with just a few ingredients, but the rich flavors and grand preparation display will win you over.
After a meal this good, it will be hard to leave room for dessert, but you’ll definitely want to at least order something to share - the desserts are made in-house and they’re the perfect end to a perfect meal.
