Alaska’s miners brought in sourdough when making their way here during the Gold Rush. Alaskans are so proud of it that newcomers (or “Cheechakos”) who spend their first winter here are even crowned “Sourdoughs.” The sourdough pancakes at Nummy’s are made with a starter from 1865 that a miner brought out to Alaska!

Located in the beautiful Copper River Valley, the Old Town Copper Center Inn & Restaurant is right in Copper Center.

The most famous item on their menu is their sourdough pancakes.

The dining room is nicknamed Nummy’s for the owner Tom’s grandmother, who ran the Copper Center Lodge and restaurant for many decades.

They even added on a gorgeous outdoor patio.
