Wyoming is truly a special place. We have beautiful summers and…. winter. A whole lot of winter. So much winter, in fact, that if you don’t like the cold, you’ll never make it here! For those of us who don’t mind bundling up in Carhartts and snow pants, though, there’s a whole new world to discover when the powder begins to fall. If you’ve never tried snowshoeing in Wyoming, this winter is the perfect time to start.

In the winter, the Tetons are an absolute masterpiece. Get up close when you take a snowy hike this winter and see the park like you’ve never seen it before.

Trekking through the snow in your boots, though, can lead to chilly and wet feet, and cut your winter adventure short.

Luckily, this is a problem that’s already been solved - with snowshoes! If you do any winter adventuring in Wyoming, chances are you have a pair handy. If not, you can rent them from local outfitters in most mountain towns.

Snowshoeing allows you to explore the most breathtaking trails in Grand Teton National Park. You’ll never see Taggart and Bradley Lakes so quiet in the summertime!

If you’re new to snowshoeing, you can join a ranger-led tour from the Taggart Lake trailhead, or hook up with a local group like Jackson Hole Eco-Tour Adventures.

Grand Teton National Park is also a great place to give cross country skiing a try. The groomed trails are well maintained by the National Park Service.
