Earlier this year when the weather began to warm up, we shared an amazing farm in Erie County where you can go hiking through the woods with llamas. As if the idea of an adventure like this being only 20 minutes away from Downtown wasn’t already exciting enough, did you know that only a mile away from Hemstreet Farm Llamas, you can find another farm full of wonderfully furry friends?

Possibly that Erie County may very well be the “Camel Family Capital” of Western New York, see why your entire family will love spending an afternoon on Thistle Creek Alpaca Farm near Buffalo.

Less than 20 miles from the heart of Buffalo, Thistle Creek Alpaca Farm is nothing short of perfect for a family-friendly day trip in Erie County.

The first set of fiber male alpacas arrived on the farm in 2006, but the herd has steadily grown ever since.

kristin j/Google The Lang’s family of alpacas is now made up of well-known breeds like Armoire, Black Midnight, Bueno, Hemingway, Royal Fawn, Jericho, Quetzal, Guillermo, Mister Antonio, Ironman, Drambuie, Snowmass Linebacker, Danko, Don Juan, and Yupanqui.

Some Buffalonians may already recognize these friendly faces, due to the fact that these alpacas are known to make appearances at local spots like Canalside, the Roycroft Campus, and even our nearby county fairs.
