The Pacific Northwest includes some of the most gorgeous and diverse landscapes in the U.S. If you’ve yet to experience this portion of America, it’s high time you planned a trip to experience some of its famed trails. We’ve found the perfect introductory hike nestled in the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area of Oregon. Take a look and you’ll soon discover why this is the one Pacific Northwest Trail that every adventurer should experience at least once:
There’s a relatively short and sweet hike that hugs Oregon’s coast near Yachats.

It goes by many names - Devil’s Churn, Trail of the Restless Way, and the Captain Cook Loop - and measures just 1.6 miles in total.

And while this trail is relatively accessible for all ages, it’s important that hikers wear sturdy shoes and the trail can get slippery.

The most breathtaking portion of the trail yields to sweeping ocean views. Look down and you’ll see the waves splashing against the dark rocks so iconic to this region.

The namesake “Devil’s Churn” is a narrow cut through the rock that creates the most dramatic effect on the waves. It’s something you must see and hear to believe.
