Leave it to wild, wonderful, West Virginia to create a hobbit hole everyone wants to visit. (Visionaries, that’s what we are… ) And this particular hobbit hole has something waiting inside that everyone can enjoy: a salt cave – and a spa. Who can resist a day at the spa, when it’s underground – in a hobbit hole?!

The Salt Cave and Spa was constructed a little over five years ago just outside of White Sulphur Springs.

TripAdvisor/SaltCaveandSpa Clearly, it’s not your ordinary spa. For starters, it’s buried beneath tons of soil — with grass (and more) growing on top.

Just walking up to the entrance is a tantalizing experience.

TripAdvisor/oceanwinds It’s almost a feeling of entering another realm…

Once inside, you’ll feel an instant calm as you enter a reception area and meet the friendly staff.

Salt Cave and Spa The Salt Cave and Spa offers a variety of services from massages to reflexology, light therapy, salt/halotherapy, facials, yoga classes, and more.

One of the highlights of the space is the salt cave.

Facebook/The Salt Cave and Spa You’ll walk over a bed of pink Himalayan salt crystals as you make your way to a zero-gravity seat. Recline and spend 45 minutes absorbing the healing properties of Himalayan salt. At a mere $15 for 45 minutes, the Salt Cave is easily the most affordable spa feature.

We suggest adding it on before a massage in one of their relaxing massage rooms.

Salt Cave and Spa All of the standard massages are on the spa menu; however there are several specialty massages, too, like the Hawaiian Pohaku Massage where heated lava stones are used during your massage. To see a complete menu of massage treatments, click here.

How about it? Are you ready to visit this amazing hobbit hole yet?

A day of pampering sounds perfect to me!
