An enchanted forest sounds pretty amazing. But when that forest is set aglow by dozens of jack-o-lanterns, it takes things to a whole new, magical level. This concept may sound too good to be true, but it’s exactly what you’ll find at Wehr Nature Center’s annual celebration, Halloween Haunts. The spook-tacular event is quickly approaching, and you don’t want to miss it. Read on for all the details.

Located in Franklin, Wehr Nature Center offers year round fun. However, October is an especially good time to visit since it’s when the nature center hosts Halloween Haunts.

A unique event that’s fun for the whole family, Halloween Haunts perfectly merges spooky Halloween fun and the beauty of nighttime nature.

During the annual event, Wehr’s woodland is transformed into an enchanted forest.

A jack-o-lantern lit trail leads straight through the forest, making for one heck of a trek.

The intricately carved pumpkins are sure to impress.

Look closely and you’ll find everything from chilling Halloween scenes to familiar characters.

But there’s more to the trail than jack-o-lanterns.

Along the way, you’ll come across a talking owl, a wise-cracking skeleton, and even some rapping arthropods.

Designed especially for families with children ages 4 – 10, the enchanted forest is just spooky enough to keep the kids enthralled, but is not designed to give anyone a nightmare.

The enchanted forest isn’t the only thing Halloween Haunts has to offer, though. Visitors are treated to cider and popcorn and can enjoy crafts, face painting, fortune telling, and a magic show.

Remember, hikes through the enchanted forest start every 7 minutes between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. — rain or shine.
