If you live in western Nebraska near the Colorado border, it’s possible that you’ve seen some surprising nighttime visions in the sky. Since mid-December, people in northeastern Colorado and Perkins, Hayes and Hitchcock counties in Nebraska have spotted groups of drones flying at night…and no one seems to know why.
This video, shot in Colorado, shows just one of the drones hovering in the sky. It stays in the same place for the duration of the video, not really doing anything other than confusing the people on the ground.

Local law enforcement officials have said that there is nothing to worry about; the presence of the drones doesn’t seem to indicate anything sinister or illegal. They also point out there shooting down the drones is illegal and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, so leave those guns at home if you happen to see them.

If you see the drones, you’re asked to report them to your local sheriff’s office to aid in the investigation efforts.
