Instead, its claim to fame is a rocky gorge through which the Temperance River flows. Thanks to its wild landscape, your visit to Temperance River State Park won’t feel like Minnesota at all. Temperance River State Park is a 5,000-acre section of Cook County. It’s along Highway 61, near the communities of Schroeder and Tofte.

Just like other Minnesota state parks, Temperance River has much to do. Set up camp in one of the many sites, each equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring.

Many miles of hiking trails crisscross the park as well, including a small stretch of the Superior Hiking Trail.
