Welcome to the Prehistoric Indian Village, the only archaeological site in South Dakota that is open to the public!

Discovered in 1910 by a Dakota Wesleyan University student, the site is home to an incredible preserve that dates back some 1,100 years and features many of the original dwellings designed by these prehistoric tribes.

When you visit, you will get an up-close look at these incredible dwellings and learn more about them, including the families, farmers, and hunters who called the area home.

In addition to the abodes themselves, guests of the Prehistoric Indian Village can also access an incredible museum with 1.5-million artifacts and a can’t-miss gift shop.

Admission to the Prehistoric Indian Village is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors (60+), and $4 for children ages 6 to 18, with those aged 6 and under free.
