Famously open for 24 hours a day, the bar has acted as the local watering hole for blue collar workers since it turned into a bar in 1962. In a city that is continuously changing, it’s incredible to think Hard Hat Lounge has persisted for all these years.

The bar most recently went through a change in management in 2018. Since then, the humble dive has gone through quite a transformation. Although it still retains its historic characteristics, like the famous 1960s-era mural by Frank Bowers, the bar has become more and more popular for its live entertainment and delicious food menu.

Located inside the historic Hard Hat is an eatery called Steel City Sandwich. Originally a food truck based out of L.A., Steel City can be found serving up delicious Pittsburgh-style sandwiches at Hard Hat from 11:00 a.m. until midnight every day. And trust us, this isn’t your typical bar food.
