From the haunted Palmer House Hotel in Sauk Centre to the ghostly bathroom stall at First Avenue, the creepy legends that have been passed down for decades are sure to fill you with fright. Let’s add one more to the list: the eerie Wabasha Street Caves. This is one ghost story that’ll leave you absolutely baffled.
The Wabasha Street Caves are one of Minnesota’s strangest – and most overlooked – attractions. You’ll find the caves at 215 Wabasha St. South, St. Paul, MN 55107.

The caves are not natural. They were carved into the sandstone cliffs back in the mid-18th century.

Perhaps the most famous story of the caves is its gangster history. Legends say that, during Prohibition, the caves hosted famous gangsters such as John Dillinger.

During that time, many questionable activities went on in the caves. One of those activities, according to rumors, was murder.

You can still see the bullet holes on the fireplace from the shootout between a group of card players and a gunman. When a waitress called the police, the bodies were removed and no one was charged.
