Is it just us or does South Dakota seem to be the poster child for charming downtown areas? From brick and mortar businesses to mom and pop shops and downhome diners, our Main Streets are about as good as it gets! While we love all of our small towns, there is one that stands out as having the most memorable Main Street of all, which is the quaint Milbank:

Located along the South Fork of the Whetstone River, Milbank is a town of nearly 3,500 that is arguably the most friendly city in all of South Dakota.

Incorporated in 1881, Milbank got its claim to fame after organizing American Legion Baseball, which is now played in all 50 states by 5,000+ teams.

In addition to its friendly residents and for being the birthplace of the ALB, Milbank is a must-visit for its incredible downtown area.

While some small towns may be written off as boring and with little to do, Milbank is the opposite, thanks to must-visit shops like Whimsy on Main…

…Tasty places to eat like the Millstone Family Restaurant…

Millstone Family Restaurant in Milbank Facebook Opened in 1978, the Millstone Family Restaurant is Millbank’s go-to for breakfast, lunch, and dinners as good as (if not better than) mom’s.

…And even a handful of museums, quarries, and parks.

As if all of the above wasn’t enough, Milbank has a few other surprises up its sleeve, like the charming Milbank Grist Mill, which was built in 1884 to grind wheat into flour.
