The Loon Lake Cemetery Is One Of Minnesota S Spookiest Cemeteries

There are more than a few haunted locales spread across the great state of Minnesota. Paranormal activity has been spotted in restaurants and hotels, bowling alleys and country roads. These haunted sites are common enough, but even more common? Haunted cemeteries. There are a few notable ones throughout the state, but the spookiest might just be Loon Lake Cemetery in Jackson, Minnesota. Take a look:

Loon Lake Cemetery is a small cemetery in the small town of Jackson, Minnesota. This is about 160 miles southwest of Minneapolis, in Jackson County.

Though Jackson is a small town, it has played a part in Minnesota history. It hosted early settlers to the region.

The Loon Lake Cemetery, on a wooded edge of Loon Lake, pays tribute to the settlers, who occupied the area in the late 1800s.

Only around 20 of the original headstones remain. There is also a headstone commemorating all of the settlers, who had all passed away by 1929.

Because of the cemetery’s age, it has given rise to rumors of paranormal activity.

It is said that a young woman named Mary Jane Terwileger - thought to be a witch - was beheaded and buried in an unmarked grave at Loon Lake Cemetery.

As the legend goes, if you walk over her grave, you will die within three days. And because her grave is unmarked, it makes the entire cemetery dangerous.
