Atlantic Baking Company in Rockland is a midcoast favorite. It’s been around since 2002 when Geoff and Judy Getman moved to town following a passion to open a world-class bakery.

Shortly thereafter, the community suffered when Geoff passed away suddenly. That’s when the Matt and Kathy Singleton took over! Friends with the Getmans who wanted to see the success of the bakery, it was a leap of faith that has certainly paid off.

Their large selection of breads are baked fresh every single morning. And they use only the best ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible.

The flours are all US-based and are free of GMOs. It’s all unbleached, unbromated and preservative-free. While all freshly baked bread is great, the selection here is made better by the attention to detail.

There are 14 different types of bread, including gluten free options, pullmans and baguettes, available daily. And others are available by the day of the week or can be ordered special.

In addition to taking bread home, you can order lunch right at the bakery. Their selection of sandwiches, soups and pizzas are all made with natural ingredients in the shop.
