The Farmer’s Almanac has been around since 1792 and while its seasonal weather predictions are correct just over 50 percent of the time, they’re always fun to investigate…kind of like reading a daily horoscope. They recently released their Winter 2020 predictions for New Jersey and the news is…mixed. Read on for the good, the bad, and the rainy.

Summer is turning to fall, but what can we expect when fall turns to winter?

Warmer than average temperatures, for starters. And we’re not just talking slightly warmer. The almanac specifically says much warmer. Much, by their analysis, means 4 or more degrees.

We can also expect above average amounts of precipitation, most of that being rain.

Late January through early February is set to be the coldest part of the winter. Most of the snow will fall in late January.

What do the scientists have to say? Experts at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration currently say that while precipitation is up in the air (it has equal chances of being more than/less than/average), temperatures across New Jersey will likely be above average all winter long. Northern and Eastern New Jersey have the highest odds of being warm.

So what does that mean for us? It all depends on what sort of winter you like. It seems like fewer layers and less shoveling will be required…but I’ve always preferred winter snow to winter rain. What about you? Whatever the weather, you can always visit this indoor beach in New Jersey.
