It might not be Christmas just yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking about it! Especially when there’s a great activity right here in New Hampshire that somehow blends the holiday with the nature we love here. For a lovely way to spend an afternoon in the Granite State consider heading to this unique trail.
The Rocks in Bethlehem dates back to the 1800s. It was originally the summer home of John Jacob Glessner, a businessman who lived most of the year in Chicago.

The home was in active use until the 1970s when Glessner’s grandchildren donated the property to the Forest Society.

Today it’s a conservation and education center used by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.

At the time of the donation, there was one stipulation. The Glessner family mandated that there always be a crop on the property.

For the last three decades that mandatory crop has been Christmas trees! As a result, it’s become one of the most popular places in the state to find the perfect tree.

Visitors are permitted to search the area, but they’re also encouraged to explore. You can visit the trails throughout the year, but we love coming at this time of year for their special winter hike.
