The Pembina Gorge is an absolutely spectacular part of North Dakota, especially in the summer and fall when it is lush with color. Take a drive through the gorge and you’ll find some amazing hidden spots.

One of those hidden spots is the Brick Mine Bridge, a bridge spanning over the Pembina River on an unnamed dirt road. It is a type of truss bridge that is rarely found in North Dakota.

As you can see on the plaque below, it was originally built all the way back in 1905 and has been recently restored to keep its iconic look but in fresh paint to bring it back to its original glory.

The bridge is known as an important point for kayaks and canoes to embark, as the Pembina River is a popular place to do those activities.
