This stunning mountain range boasts endless adventure, and it’s also home to Lamoille Canyon—a region that transforms with color during this time of year. At first, exploring this inspiring region of Northern Nevada can seem like a daunting task. There’s a lot of ground to cover! However, the 12-mile Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway makes for the perfect introduction to this spectacular mountain range.

This two-lane highway will lead you on an incredible adventure through one of the Ruby Mountain’s most beloved regions: Lamoille Canyon. This little slice of paradise flares with bright shades of red and yellow during the fall season, and it’s certainly a sight to see.

As you continue driving along the highway, the byway will lead you straight into the heart of Lamoille Canyon. Mountains and rugged canyon walls will surround you from all sides, all of which are completely covered in magnificent autumn colors.

The self-guided car tour comes complete with plenty of informational signs which describe the region’s fascinating geology. There are plenty of pullouts and places to stop for a bit to take in the views—and trust us, you’ll want to spend plenty of time taking it in.
