The window of time to see fall foliage in Montana is fairly narrow, especially since our winters tend to start early. That being said, if you have the time to take an October road trip, you don’t have to drive all the way to Whitefish or Glacier National Park to see autumn’s finest hues. The Paradise Valley Scenic Loop is often more accessible, and it’s stunning this time of year.

The Paradise Valley Scenic Loop is a 62-mile loop drive that showcases the sheer beauty of this part of Montana.

This stretch of highway stays packed during the summer, as people make their way to and from Yellowstone National Park.

You’ll drive past farms and ranches, with mountain peaks looming in the distance.

Keep driving south on US-89 until you come to the Yellowstone River.
