The Kisatchie National Forest has some of the best primitive camping in Louisiana. The 600,000-acre forest spans over seven parishes and is filled with rugged terrain, piney hills, and beautiful longleaf pine forests.

When you’re looking to a place to go camping that’s secluded and private, the Stuart Lake Campground is just the ticket.

Nestled within the Kisatchie National Forest, you’ll find this hidden gem in Pollock, Louisiana.

The tiny but mighty campground is situated on the shores of the beautiful Stuart Lake, a 5-acre lake that’s great for fishing, canoeing, and swimming.

The campground offers 8 primitive campground sites, a great spot to pitch a tent and spend a night under the stars.

The site has everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including restrooms, barbecue pits, and covered picnic shelters.

It’s is also the trailhead for the Glenn Emery Trail, a lovely 4-mile out-and-back trail that will lead you on a peaceful journey through a beautiful forest setting. Whether you’re walking, biking, or on horseback, this trail will make you feel like you’re a million miles away from it all.

The campground is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for day use for $5 per vehicle per day. So even if you can’t get away for a weekend, you can still spend the day at Stuart Lake.
