Idaho’s “City of Trees” is home to all sorts of surprises. Tucked away in the middle of Downtown Boise, this rose garden is home to thousands of rose bushes and it’s a delightful surprise in one of the state’s most urbanized places. The rose garden in Julia Davis Park is notable for several reasons. First of all, it’s considered the second oldest rose garden in the Northwest and the largest in the Intermountain region. And to think it was hiding out here all this time!

Originally established in the 1930s, the magnificent garden is home to over 2,000 spectacular rose bushes. Carefully placed among beautiful manicured lawns and hedges, the garden is simply picturesque.

The garden is worth visiting by itself, but you’ll find that it’s conveniently situated near great Boise destinations like Zoo Boise, the Boise Art Museum, and the Idaho Historical Museum. If you find yourself visiting any of these places, a stroll through the garden is a must!

Located right in the middle of the garden is a gorgeous gazebo where you can sit and take in the sight of the roses. Take a moment to sit, breath in the intoxicating fragrance of flowers, and simply enjoy the serene environment.

The roses are definitely well taken care of and the garden is a beauty to behold all year round. However, you’ll find that the roses are usually in full bloom during June or July.
