With stunning views, gorgeous rugged coastline, and tons of rocks to scramble over, you need to visit this gorgeous place at low tide for some of Alaska’s greatest tide pooling!

Fort Abercrombie State Historical Site is a gorgeous, 182 acre land area that houses stunning coastal areas and lush spruce forest.

The coastline is rugged and rocky, absolutely perfect for tidepooling.

You can find all sorts of amazing things in the cold Pacific waters around Kodiak Island.

By leaving large mounds of sand you can suffocate other creatures that have burrowed under, and they won’t be able to reach the surface for air.

The area isn’t just amazing for marine life. The plant life is astounding too!

You can still see the old World War II barracks all over the large site.

Although the whole area was staffed and manned, this fort never saw any battle!
