The reports are coming in – people are seeing thousands upon thousands of snow geese headed south for the winter over North Dakota. These massive flocks are mesmerizing to see, and even more magical to hear. Be on the lookout for them in the coming days, and you’ll be in for quite the sight.

When snow geese are resting, they often stop on fields and in prairie potholes. There are many conservation and waterfowl protection areas in North Dakota where the land is preserved so they still have these resting grounds for their journey.

Many North Dakotans have reported recent sightings of the geese flying overhead. They’ll keep heading south to their wintering grounds in the south and in Mexico, and next spring we’ll see them headed back up this way in the same spectacular fashion.
