Tickfaw State Park is just about an hour’s drive from the city and features 1,200 acres of some of the most beautiful natural scenery you’ve ever seen. Tickfaw State Park is located in Springfield, Louisiana. This Livingston Parish town may be tiny, clocking in at less than 500 residents, but it’s home to one of the most beautiful state parks in Louisiana.

The 1,200 acre state park opened up in 1999 and quickly became a popular attraction for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature for a while.

You’ll experience the sights and sounds of four different ecosystems: a cypress/tupelo stamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a mixed pine/hardwood forest and the Tickfaw River.

Along your adventure, be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife. The area is home to alligators, armadillos, beavers, white-tailed deer, possums, rabbits, and countless other critters.

After you’ve strolled through the miles of boardwalk trails, you can rent a canoe and set off on the canoe trails to explore the Tickfaw River from an entirely new perspective.
