Do you like seeing carefully arranged stones and rocks in many colors, sometimes with plant life added as well? Rock gardens are often seen as boring, no matter how beautiful they might be. Some rock gardens are just pretty rocks arranged in lines, circles, and whatnot, but this rock garden in Kansas is the perfect unique example. There’s nothing we’ve seen like it anywhere else!

Welcome to a little house in Lucas, Kansas, the town where weird art is encouraged and celebrated.

As part of the Grassroots Arts Center tour, you’ll find Florence Deeble’s Rock Garden one of the most interesting stops. Inspired by fellow artist S.P. Dinsmoor, she began creating what she loved to see.

Florence Deeble has created a rock and concrete garden in her backyard full of “post card” sized versions of places she has visited or read about.

Maybe the most famous of them is the miniature Mt. Rushmore,

She’s also sculpted the Teton Mountains, Estes Park, and more.

Some of these rocks are brought from her travels, which makes this years-long creation even more unique.

If this beautiful place isn’t enough for a day trip, remember that there are plenty more things to see in Lucas, Kansas. Why not fill the whole day with these beautiful creations?
