If you’re not a morning person, it can be tough to rise with the rooster to get a sunrise view, but sometimes it’s worth the effort. Grab yourself a cup of coffee and head to Silver Sands State Park, where you’ll see one of the most spectacular sunrises in the state.

You’ll find Silver Sands State Park, in Milford, which is located in the southwest part of Connecticut. The park is nestled right on the banks of the New Jersey Sound.

When the tide is low, you can walk across the tombolo to access the island, but make sure to pay attention to the tide chart; you don’t want to get stranded out there!

The park is typically quiet this early in the morning, and a brisk walk in the crisp, fresh air is the perfect way to start your day.

Depending on the time of year, and whether or not we’re in Daylight Saving Time, you’ll want to arrive by either 6 a.m. or 7 a.m, to be there in time to catch the first rays of light rising above the water.
