The rains have cooled down the state just a bit and everyone is more than ready for a crisp autumn. For a fun fall day trip, you need to visit the Schaefers and Collins Pumpkin Patch in Mayflower. This family farm has pick-your-own pumpkins, fields of sunflowers and cotton for photos, and even a corn maze! Let’s enjoy the new season and head out the farm.

A day trip to your local family farm is one of the best outings to have during fall. Schaefers and Collins Pumpkin Patch is in the central part of the state so it’s easily accessible to just about every Arkansan.

Facebook/Schaefers and Collins Pumpkin Patch The farm is located in Mayflower, which is about 25 miles northwest of Little Rock. The Schaefers Family have farmed along Lollie Road Arkansas since 1971! They’ve cultivated quite the day trip for fall-enthusiasts, too.

You’ll probably make the trip to pick a pumpkin or two but it’s certainly not the only reason to visit.

Google/Dorine Jimenez-Renyolds Admission to the pumpkin patch is $6/kid which includes picking one pumpkin and taking a hayride. Adults wanting to pick a pumpkin is $7. For more information, you can visit the patch’s website right here.

There’s plenty of variety if you’d prefer shopping to picking.

Facebook/Schaefers and Collins Pumpkin Patch The pumpkin patch has a ton of pumpkin and gourd varieties that are already picked for your convenience. Indian corn, corn stalks, straw bales, scarecrows, and any other fall decor you can imagine will be available as well. The prices of these vary but you’ll be guaranteed to have the prettiest front porch on the block!

Schaefers and Collins also have a fantastic sunflower field for your fall photos.

Google/James Snider The sunflowers should be peaking on opening weekend. You can take family photos in this field or in the neighboring cotton field. Professional photographers will be charged $25 for the natural backdrop but family snaps are free of charge.

Touring the farm and picking pumpkins will take up most of your trip but there are other areas to explore as well.

Google/Maghan River The pumpkin patch also has a barn filled with friendly critters to meet, a learning center focused on planting and farm equipment, and a large playground. Everyone can take a lunch break at Cozy’s concession stand, too. It’s packed with fair foods like BBQ sandwiches, corn dogs, and fresh-squeezed lemonade.

The Schaefers also run the corn maze just down the road.

Google/J G Have a whole other adventure by taking on the corn maze. The maze is comprised of two trails that zigzag about four miles through the field. This year’s theme is “Harvesting Memories.” Children ages 3 - 12 are $6 and adults are $8. For more information, you can visit the maze’s website.

This full day of fun on the farm is just one of the trips you’ll need to take this season.
