Round Top Mountain has a splendid trail with expansive views but that’s not the only reason to hike here. You’ll also see historic plane wreckage along this path as well. This hike has so many features to savor so no more excuses, let’s head to this mountaintop trail!

Google/E Wise Round Top Mountain has a pleasant 3.5-mile loop around the base and up to the peak. We wouldn’t recommend this as a first hike for a novice but it is a perfect addition to a family that enjoys taking day trips along different trails.

A rather unexpected sight in the middle of the woods is the remains of plane wreckage from 1948.
AllTrails/Katherine Tyson On the night of February 6th, 1948 a B-25 bomber crashed into the side of Round Top Mountain. The plane took off in Dayton, Ohio and was suppose to land in Little Rock. The plane was used for training and was carrying five men at the time of the crash. It’s thought that the freezing rain and thick fog lead to the plane’s wings to ice over.
Be sure to have a moment of silence while you pass this somber spot.

Your trip will then ascend to the tippy top of Round Top.
