Woodlands play a prominent role in classic fairy tales for a reason. They’re brimming with towering trees, lush grass, majestic wildlife, and magical moments. This magical woodland trail in Missouri promises a little bit of everything  – from scenic views of the Meramec River to a moss-covered stairway that seemingly leads to nowhere.

Tucked in Castlewood State Park, in Ballwin, River Scene Loop Trail spans just over three picturesque miles.

You’ll probably want to wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes, especially if you’re hiking after a rainfall. (The trail gets muddy).
