Need a refreshing break from the big city? You won’t have to travel far to head out on a scenic nature hike in SoCal that will lead you through stunning natural beauty in every direction.

Not only is this hike dripping with beautiful scenery, but it’s also quite easy. Feel free to bring the kids along on this hike that we’re sure the whole family will love.

Take a day trip to Temescal Canyon Park and you’ll find an easy-breezy trail that will lead you someplace wonderful.

Although there are dozens of trails to choose from inside this outdoor oasis, today we’re heading out on the Rivas Canyon Trail. Known as a connector hike between two parks, the Rivas Canyon Trail starts at Temescal Canyon Park and leads you all the way to somewhere unforgettable – Will Rogers State Historic Park. 

all trails/ roy hart To reach the Rivas Canyon Trail you’ll want to start your hike by heading to Temescal Canyon Park. This park is located at 15900 Pacific Coast Hwy, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272. The parking fee at the lot is $10 per car at the time of this writing.

Just shy of five miles, this hike is rated as easy and is good for all skill levels. You can even bring the dogs along, but just make sure you have them properly leashed.

As you head out on the trail, you’ll notice lush plants and greenery in every direction. Although this trail is a great choice all year long, you’ll find the spring, fall, and winter seasons are the best time of year to enjoy the foliage.

This may be an easy hike, but you’ll still find a bench situated in the perfect location for a break along the trail. It’s also a great spot to simply sit down and soak up the view.

The view from up here is astounding. You can see all the way to Los Angeles on a clear day in SoCal. Yes, we do have those!

As you head back out of the canyon, the trail will lead you straight to Will Rogers State Historic Park – a local gem in SoCal that is well worth a visit.

Wander through the park or head back to the trailhead along the out and back trail for a day out in nature that will completely refresh you.
