One of our favorite parts about enjoying the fall season here in New York is seeing all of the different decorations that pop up around our state. Some attractions and enthusiastic neighbors will create things out of hay bales, while others will set up lifelike characters right in their front yards. If you happen to head out to the historic Old Westbury Gardens during the month of October though, you’ll discover all kinds of magic that can be created with the simplicity of a pumpkin. Ready or not, starting on October 11th the Old Westbury Garden will be the host of the Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns 8th annual event.

To those of us New Yorkers who have previously attended the Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns event, familiar displays like the Gourds with the Gift of Gab will have jack o’lantern characters singing your favorite Halloween tunes will once again be set up.

Yes, the rumors are also true! The Jack O’Lantern Cafe will have cider donuts and hot apple cider from Jericho Cider Mill, as well as other baked goods from local Long Island bakeries.
