We’re all about small-town restaurants here in Texas, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. Rancho Pizzeria, located in a farming community of fewer than 5,000 residents, boasts gourmet pizza, high-quality Texas wine, and an atmosphere that takes you far away from the middle of nowhere.
Coleman is a small farming community of just over 4,000 residents, located not too far from San Angelo. For the most part, you could drive through the entire town without missing much…but Rancho Pizzeria is a glaring exception.

Inside, the atmosphere is a delicate balance between modernism and charming Texas decor. Sleek, white walls and an open-concept kitchen are juxtaposed against taxidermied animals - or hunting trophies, we should say - mounted for all to see. Oh, and the traditional wood-fired oven certainly isn’t a bad touch.

Nine pizza varieties are permanent fixtures on the menu. Several, such as margherita, pepperoni, and sausage, don’t stray too far from the norm. Others, however, like fungi, which features roasted shiitake mushrooms and garlic, bechamel sauce, fontina cheese, and white truffle oil, put a sophisticated twist on America’s favorite food.
