The glitz and glamour of big city attractions can often be exciting, but it’s our rural destinations that usually win over our hearts. In New York, many of us make a tradition out of visiting our favorite farms during the fall when treats like cider donuts and pumpkins are in season. But why let the fun fade away with our foliage when you can visit an amazing farm that’s open all year long?

Just 15 minutes outside of Rochester is the town of Pittsford in Monroe County.

Jeremias JMan M./Yelp

This beautiful town is home to Pittsford Farms Dairy, a 200-acre farm that’s earned quite the reputation.

Sarah C./Yelp The farm has been a family business since the late 1800s, with a long standing record of being one of our favorite places to get dairy products like milk and ice cream.

Nearly a handful of years ago the owners moved their store to a new space, where visitors can now find this attraction overflowing with rustic charm.

Rebecca B./Yelp

If you look up you’ll see chandeliers made out of glass milk bottles, paying homage to the fact that they’re one of New York’s only standing facilities to bottle their creamy goodness into glass still.

Trisha G./Yelp

And milk jug stools and railroad spike coat hangers that you’ll wish you could take home with you.

Annick831/TripAdvisor When the farm passed down from one generation to the next back in the early 1960s, the Rochester area had more than 40 milk bottlers. But today? Pittsford Farms Dairy is one of the only places you’ll find like this in all of New York.

And while most people come to visit Pittsford Farms Dairy for their ice cream that comes in over 60 flavors…

Stan F./Yelp Have no fear! If you’re assuming that you can only get their ice cream during the summer you’ll have to think again! The farm serves up ice cream all year long, going through as many as 10,000 ice cream cones a week during the summer months.

It’s their bakery items that you’ll want to be sure to try and take home with you.

When the farm moved their store to a new space, one of the many perks was that their bakery section was able to expand.

Michelle H./Yelp

Included in our list of best places to get a pie in New York, the farm’s milk and egg nog is the perfect way to wash down a good bakery item.

Helen Y./Yelp

Serena T./Yelp Wonder what it is that makes this farm’s milk taste so fantastic? Tucked away on another location, the farm has a herd of dairy cows that are all grass-fed without GMO’s or hormones. The milk is then delivered to the farm several times throughout the week, where it’s vat pasteurized with cream giving everything a perfectly sweet taste!

From yule logs to cupcakes and beautifully decorated cookies, your sweet tooth will certainly get its fix here at the farm.

Aubery K./Yelp

Many of the pastries that you’ll find here are baked with ingredients that come from the Baker Street Bakery in Rochester.

J.T.I./Yelp Pittsford Farms knows the value of local business. Inside the store you’ll find that they have quite a few locally made products that keep customers coming in. At the farm you’ll be able to buy ravioli from The Ravioli Shop in Rochester and even locally roasted coffee from Java Joe’s!

If your stomach wasn’t already rumbling enough, sometimes you’ll even be lucky enough to find gourmet pizzas that you can take home with you!

Lea B./Yelp

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to hop in your car and take a trip to this beautiful, picturesque red barn that’s straight out of your dairy dreams.
