Charleston’s most visited plantation is, by day, a romantic and stunning place to wander. The 390 riverside acres that make up this Lowcountry treasure are filled with natural gardens, pools, lakes, live oak trees with Spanish moss swaying in the gentle breeze, and more – including a zoo and an Audubon swamp garden. There is simply no denying the beauty found at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.
And while most visitors only get to wander the gardens during the daytime, for the next three months, the gardens will open five nights per week after dark for a stunning temporary exhibit called Lights of Magnolia.

With a separate admission ticket just for the limited-time event, visitors will get to experience the gardens in a whole new light as 23 themed Chinese lantern displays illuminate nine-acres from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

These aren’t your ordinary Chinese lanterns, either. They’re enormous and found in groupings of themed displays.
