For some, the most wonderful time of the year is made even more magical by Hallmark Christmas movies. The movies are fun and heartwarming, offering a pleasant break from reality. And this year, the new releases happen to include a film that is set in the Treasure State itself. Christmas in Montana debuts on Saturday, December 14, and we’re pretty sure we’re going to love it.

Christmas in Montana stars Kellie Martin and Colin Ferguson as a pair who come together in an unexpected way, as is often the case in these Hallmark gems.

Jeremy Thies / Flickr The movie is actually somewhat loosely based on Kellie Martin’s life — although she is from Los Angeles, the husband is from Montana, and they make an unlikely pair.

There’s no word yet on where in the Treasure State this story takes place, or if they will mention the town at all.

Angela Sevin / Flickr In the film, Martin’s character is an efficiency expert sent to Montana by the bank who is offering a loan to a struggling ranch owner (Ferguson).

Ferguson wastes no time mocking a common Montana stereotype, which we love to see.

YouTube When Martin seems surprised that he is the ranch owner, he asks, ‘What were you expecting, a gigantic belt buckle and a lasso?’

Of course, he also reinforces a stereotype we don’t mind, known as Montana Time.

YouTube It seems as if his character spends the majority of the film reminding Martin’s to slow down and enjoy the moment. And it’s no secret that we love a slow-paced life here in Big Sky Country.

Christmas in Montana looks like it will be the kind of warm, fuzzy, feel-good flick we could all use in our lives.
