Did you know Mississippi is home to the 2nd spookiest cemetery in the entire country? It’s true. But, that’s not the only notoriously haunted graveyard in the state. There are several others, and Old Salem Cemetery is one of them. The secluded cemetery has a long history of eerie happenings, putting it at the top of the list of places you don’t want to visit alone or after dark. Take a look:
Old Salem Cemetery is located in the small town of Senatobia, which is situated near Mississippi’s northern border.

The cemetery lies just a few miles outside of town. Eerily secluded, it sits at the end of a tiny road and is surrounded by woods.

Over the years, people have reported seeing shadow men, black masses, spirits, and orbs at the cemetery. But that’s not all…

Several people have reported hearing children’s laughter followed by the screams of a phantom woman. Foul odors, cold spots, and an “ominous feeling” have also been mentioned by those who’ve visited the cemetery.
One particular visitor had an experience that’ll put anyone’s hair on end. When talking about her visit to Old Salem Cemetery, she said, “My two-year-old was talking to the woods, and he said he was talking to Tommie, his friend. Come to find out there was a child buried there named Tommie.”
There’s not an exact address for Old Salem Cemetery, but as you can see from the map, it’s not far from New Salem Baptist Church.
