Earlier this season the park earned the State Park of the Year award.

In addition to bragging rights the award is a shout out to the hard work the park’s superintendent (and her team) have accomplished over the year. Way to go Kristina Root!

There’s no shortage of options if you’d prefer to stay on land, either.
AllTrails/Shana Durdin The state park has six recreation areas for campers with sites for RVs as well. Picnic around one of the lakes or stroll along the park’s Bear Creek Lake Nature Trail.
The park is undeniably beautiful but if you’d like to see the reason for the award then you definitely need to stop in the visitor center.
