There are two things most Minnesotans adore: waterfalls and autumn leaves. Each of these things is a reminder of just how beautiful the Land of 10,000 Lakes really is. That’s why it’s so exciting when, for just a few weeks every year, waterfalls become even more beautiful thanks to their autumnal surroundings. Just about any waterfall in Minnesota will give you a breathtaking view in the fall, but one of our favorites is at Minneopa State Park. Minneopa Falls will soon be surrounded by beautiful fall colors, and you don’t want to miss it.

Minneopa Falls is a beautiful park in Mankato, Minnesota. It covers more than 4,600 acres of south-central Minnesota.

The park is gorgeous all year but is truly breathtaking come fall. Maple, elm, oak, and many other tree species thrive here. When summer turns to fall, they blaze with color.

There are 4.5 miles of trail throughout the park, making it easy to see the fall colors up close. This part of Minnesota usually hits peak color within the first couple weeks of October.

Of course, trails aren’t the only thing to see. There’s also a spectacular waterfall on Minneopa Creek that you’ve got to see — especially during the fall.

The upper falls is a gentler drop, and it’s easy to see up close. Surrounded by the rich colors of autumn, it’s simply stunning.

The lower falls is even more beautiful. Walk across the beautiful bridge to see it close, or stroll along the paved pathways to watch it from afar. Either way, you’ll love it!

A steep trail leads to the base of the falls, where you can feel the mist as the water barrels down. Surrounded by the sight of the changing season, it’ll be the most unforgettable hike you take this year.
