Waterfalls are pretty magical at any time of the year. Yet winter brings its own allure, as it has the power to freeze even the most powerful cascades. Recently, it has been cold enough for the famous Minnehaha Falls to freeze. Photographs of this powerful waterfall turned to icicles and frost are nothing short of mesmerizing.

There are many difficulties about a Minnesota winter, but the natural scenery isn’t one of them.

As you can imagine, the weather conditions near the falls are incredibly cold, so if you do plan on visiting, be sure to bundle up in plenty of warm layers and wear sturdy shoes.
