Fall has officially arrived here in Alabama. With that being said, there’s no better way to experience the state’s beautiful fall foliage than by taking a scenic drive. One of Alabama’s most scenic and popular drives, especially this time of year, is the Lookout Mountain Parkway, which you can read all about below.

The Lookout Mountain Parkway stretches along the top of Lookout Mountain for 93 miles. It begins in Gadsden, Alabama and ends in Chattanooga, Tennessee. According to Reader’s Digest, it’s “One of America’s Scenic Drives.”
There are several attractions located along the Lookout Mountain Parkway that are perfect for visiting during the fall season. One in particular is Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden. This 250-acre park features a 90-foot waterfall (Noccalula Falls) that’s beautiful year-round, especially during the fall season.

Another stop along the way is Cherokee Rock Village in Leesburg. In addition to it being one of Alabama’s top locations for rock climbing, it’s also one of the best places to experience an incredible view.

One of Alabama’s most popular attractions along the Lookout Mountain Parkway is Little River Canyon National Preserve in Fort Payne. Thanks to its colorful fall foliage, this preserve is one of the South’s most beautiful nature spots.

Also, while taking their scenic drive, many people will pull over just to experience the preserve’s Little River Falls up close. Little River Falls is one of the South’s most beautiful waterfalls, and it belongs on everyone’s fall bucket list.

Alabama is home to many beautiful state parks, including DeSoto State Park, which is also in Fort Payne. This scenic park’s Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail is perfect for a fall hike. So, if you feel the need to pull over and stretch your legs, this is definitely a trail you’ll want to explore.

DeSoto Falls, which is a part of Desoto State Park, is located near the charming town of Mentone. This stunning 3-tier, 104-foot waterfall is surrounded by the most colorful foliage during the fall season. It’s an absolute must-visit!
