Out in the western half of New York State, you can find all sorts of noteworthy museums that will leave you feeling completely fascinated. Something many of our residents and out-of-town friends don’t know though is that in Genesee County you can actually visit a museum that tells you all about the history of America’s most famous dessert. Only a half-hour outside of Rochester, the Jell-O Gallery is one of Genesee County’s most unique and intrigue hidden gems.

Putting the history of America’s most famous dessert on display for all to see, many are unaware of the fact that Jell-O was created here in Western New York during the late 1800s.

Originally created by a carpenter in the town of Le Roy by the name of Pearle White, the trademarked good was sold for a mere $450 dollars to a local man by the name of Frank Woodward who would go on to master advertising Jell-O and growing the brand.
